I've always been a Jacqueline of all trades, and have been involved in many different activities and hobbies throughout my life. My early years were occupied by music as I began studying dance at the age of seven and picked up my first clarinet at nine. While I played the clarinet from the fourth grade to my first year of college - in the footsteps of my lifestyle icon, Squidward - my relationship with dance ended in high school when tennis became my sport of choice. As a college student, it was difficult to find time for hobbies, but dance, tennis and music still manage to wiggle their way into my busy schedule.
Music and sports were important factors in my life, but I also had a passion for community engagement. In high school I joined class office becoming the secretary of my class by senior year. This engagement sparked my interest in pursuing communication and sociology at Pacific Lutheran University (PLU). After supporting local staff and students from my local community at Clover Park School District, becoming one of the founders of Commencement Bank's Diversity, Equality, and Inclusion (DEI) Committee and working with local nonprofits through MediaLab, I can honestly say that choosing a path in sociology has been one of the greatest decisions I have ever made.
At PLU, I became involved in MediaLab and was able to gain life-changing experience working with a variety of different organizations to produce all sorts of media content. I was also lucky enough to accept the role of producer and work with an amazing team to film their annual documentary. We traveled the the coast of Washington to shoot the Emmy-nominated film about coastal erosion called Living on the Edge.
Today, I continue my work as a communication strategist - combining my passions with my career. While I love what I do, when I'm off the clock I spend my time obsessing over pop culture and music. You can always find me going to concerts or music festivals, listening to my favorite artists, dissecting a new music video, or obsessing over a new celebrity's aesthetic. All while keeping up with news, a dash of sports, film, TV, fashion, and celebrity culture. I like to think that I can contribute to almost any conversation that comes my way, so there's never a quiet moment when I'm around! To the disappointment of some. ;)
