Video
Since I joined the community relations team at CPSD, we have increased our video production efforts tremendously. As younger generations of families become accustomed to digesting information through video rather than in writing, it is important that the district stay ahead of the curve when sharing important information with families and our community.
In addition to messages from Superintendent Banner, instructional videos about state assessment data or software navigation, and live-streamed events, our team created many captivating informational videos that have won state and national recognition from the School Public Relations Association.
View some examples below.
Learning with Superintendent Banner
In the video and podcast series, Learning with Superintendent Banner, we join the Clover Park School District superintendent as he meets with students, staff and administrators to explore different aspects of academic success, facility needs, student accomplishments and more.
This series has been continuously evolving since its inception in 2024. It has earned multiple Awards of Excellence from the Washington State School Public Relations Association and has garnered enthusiastic support from district administrators and community members.
Each video coincides with the publication of Inside Schools, the district's magazine-style communication to all Lakewood residents. With each new release, we engage more families, community members, and most importantly, levy voters.
This has become one of our team's greatest successes and, with the expansion of a companion podcast in 2025, is a passion of our superintendent.

Informational Levy Video
In February of 2024, community members voted on the district levy initiative. This funding is crucial to the function of our district and it was imperative that our team lead the informational efforts to ensure the public was informed about what they were voting for.
We created the CPSD's Current Replacement Levy in Action video to effectively communicate the function of levy funds and how they are appropriated.
During this time, there was a vast opposition campaign and districts across the state were losing funding. Gladly and impart due to this video, local residents voted in favor of the levy initiative at 58%, the highest percentile the district had seen in over 20 years.
Informational Impact Aid Video
Another form of funding the district receives is Federal Impact Aid Funding. These funds are given to districts that serve military families. Six CPSD schools are located on Joint Base Lewis-McChord and one-third of all CPSD students are from military families.
We created the Impact Aid in Clover Park School District video to inform families of the importance of Impact Aid funds and for Superintendent Banner to present in Washington D.C. at the National Association of Federally Impacted Schools (NAFIS) where he advocates for federal officials to continue providing this important resource.
Our video was very successful in informing families of these funds so that they fill out the annual Impact Aid form to secure funding. Additionally, it was well received at NAFIS where our superintendent was commended for sharing our district's story.

Arlington Project Video
I'm proud to share that this video was given an Award of Excellence and won Best in Show at the 2025 Washington State School Public Relations Association conference.
Each year, Clover Park High School (CPHS) students complete the Arlington Project to honor Veterans Day. The project is a massive undertaking where each student places white markers in the CPHS lawn to commemorate the 7,028 armed service members who lost their lives in the Iraq and Afghanistan wars since Sept. 11, 2001.
The ceremony also features choral and band performances, remarks from the CPHS principal, the superintendent and a high ranking military member from JBLM.
With the introduction of a new principal to CPHS in the 2023-24 school year, we wanted to create a video we could share with the Lakewood community that celebrated this achievement and introduced her face to those who may not have been introduced.
This is one of the most-viewed videos on the district YouTube Channel and is routinely shared by the Lakewood community.
