Event Planning
Staying active in my community is deeply important to me and I have had ample opportunity to further these efforts as communications coordinator for CPSD.
I have helped plan for community events, district ceremonies, community clean-up efforts, festivals and more. We have partnered with the city of Lakewood, the Lakewood Rotary, YoungLife, the MLK Committee and more to support our community. I take joy in arranging set-ups, organizing details, procuring marketing materials and interacting with the community, so I greatly appreciate this aspect of my career.
The local events the community relations team participated in at the city of Lakewood since I've joined include SummerFEST, the Joint Base Lewis-McChord Beach Bash, the Holiday Parade of Lights, the MLK Beloved Welcome Walk, South Puget Sound Wildlife Area clean-ups, National Park Appreciation Day and more.
Our team also holds the annual Employees of the Year and Retirement Ceremonies for district staff and families. Ensuring these events are held in accordance with district standards takes months of preparation and communication with multiple parties.
At each of these events, I support the planning efforts but I am also the sole team member covering the event by capturing photography and video, interviewing participants for news releases as required, and collaborating with sponsors or other stakeholders when sharing with the community.
