Written Content
At CPSD, I have honed my sharp writing skills and became an expert in AP Style. Whether we are disseminating emergency communication to families in an urgent situation or carefully crafting a newsletter for the community, communicating effectively and accurately is key.
As coordinator, I support our team's combined effort to write and distribute news releases as well as publish our monthly newsletter Inside Schools, which is sent to each residence in the city of Lakewood. Learn more about Inside Schools Below.
I lead our internal communication, creating the weekly staff newsletter News Briefs, and the biweekly family and staff newsletter Future Ready. These documents are the central form of communication the district uses to inform staff and families of important events, surveys, required documents, celebrations and all other key information of interest. While I cannot include these documents in this online portfolio due to the sensitive links that are included for internal district personnel only, I can share samples upon request.

Inside Schools
The purpose of Inside Schools is to keep community members and families informed about district information, connect community with the learning happening in CPSD schools and increase community pride in CPSD schools. It is the only regular district-produced communication piece that’s distributed to all district residents. It is mailed to each resident and delivered to school staff to promote CPSD.
Research shows it is the primary way residents receive information about CPSD. An electronic version is posted to the district website and news releases of featured stories are sent to the media for additional reach.
This year, Inside Schools was a critical piece of our efforts to inform voters about the Replacement Levy on the Feb 13, 2024, special election ballot. Multiple issues included information about the Replacement Levy, what it funds and how much it will cost voters if approved.
Constituents have commented that they like the stories and information, as well as the photos and redesigned publication.
