Social Media Management

My primary focus as the communications coordinator for CPSD is managing our social media pages. I am the sole content curator responsible for maintaining our social media calendar and acquiring all photo and video that is posted. I attend more than 150 events each year to ensure that we share a minimum of one post a day during the school week. Since joining the district, I have used my unique video and photography skillset to captivate our community while creating a specific district voice through our captions.

In the past three years, my efforts have doubled our followers on Instagram, surpassed our goal following on Facebook and increased engagement across the board. By routinely studying KPI data through Meta Business Suite, Hootesuite and YouTube Studio, I ensure that we meet department initiatives while staying ahead of the school public relations industry in our success on each platform. These efforts have een recognized by our peers at both the state and national School Public Relations Association award ceremonies.

My sole drive will always be sharing student stories, celebrating staff and uplifting student voice. We serve a very under-appreciated population in Lakewood, WA. Our students are as diverse as they come, with high multilingual learning, military, low-income and special education communities. I hope to be an advocate for these students and families by sharing their stories and keeping them informed.

Please visit CPSD's social media pages to see my photography, design and writing skills in action.

#SuperSchoolShoutout

In addition to celebratory or event-based posts, I create weekly campaigns to celebrate staff and raise student voice. #SuperSchoolShoutout posts are shared each Friday and feature a student and staff from one of CPSD's 24 schools and programs. This campaign has been recognized by the National School Public Relations Association and won an Award of Merit. Additionally, the Washington State School Public Relations Association gave the campaign an Award of Excellence. Here are a few examples of how this campaign shares our staff story and celebrates our amazing students:

#LearningInMotion

I'm proud to have launch the district's first year-long social media video series, #LearningInMotion, which was given an Award of Excellence and won Best in Show at the 2025 Washington State School Public Relations Association conference.

Please take a look at the series on the CPSD YouTube playlist.

As our district's parents continue to represent younger generations, including Gen Z, I wanted to create a successful communication strategy that would effectively reach this demographic. They are no longer perusing Facebook and are used to short-form video content found on Instagram Reels and TikTok. While I could not get district approval to join TikTok, I proposed an Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts campaign that displays what students learn in the classroom and elevates student voice - two department initiatives for our team.

#LearningInMotion videos are shared twice a month and each video is about 90 seconds or less. Parents have not had this much direct access into classrooms through social media before and shared that this helped improve their sentiment toward district efforts in internal surveys. That improvement was crucial to our success in passing the 2024 district levy initiative.

This campaign was also recognized with an Honorable Mention award at the National School Public Relations Association and won an Award of Excellence at the 2024 conference.
